Don’t give up on your dream because of a mistake or temporary setback. Remember why you started on this journey. Visualize your goal. Keep moving forward. The enemy will try to derail you with distractions. Don’t let him detain you any longer! Take that next step. Commit to make that change. Pursue the dream God has placed in your heart!

You can do ALL things through Christ, who strengthens you!  Philippians 4:13

Vision In Action!

FB_IMG_1494821557227

What has God placed on your heart for today? Has He given you a vision for something He has called you to do? Are you closer now to walking in your calling- to seeing that vision come to life- than you were a year ago?

If the answer is “yes”, keep trusting! Keep walking! Keep seeking God’s guidance! He will use each experience, each appointment, as a stepping stone in the pathway to your calling. And HE will fulfill the vision and complete the good work He has begun in you!

If the answer is “no”, then why not? Take Action! Do it TODAY! Don’t allow the enemy to detain you, distract you, discourage you, or derail you any longer!

Seek God’s direction. Listen for His guidance. Be obedient. And take that step of faith!

God will take care of the rest!

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6

Other Scripture References:

Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, but happy is he who keeps the law – Proverbs 29:18  Vision is the bridge between the present and the future. Without it we perish or go “unrestrained.”  Vision gives us a path and a purpose.

“The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps” – Proverbs 16:9

The steps of a man are established by the Lord, and He delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, because the Lord is the one who holds his hand. – Psalm 37:23-24

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus – Philippians 3:14

When your vision is honestly birthed by God Himself, He will be delighted to direct your steps as you act upon what He has placed in your heart, according to His will!

May God bless you abundantly and guide you to becoming all He created you to be!

The Principle of Character

DevelopingChristianCharacter_620x348

“Character cannot be developed in peace and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision be cleared, ambition insured and success achieved.”

– Helen Keller

There is something of great truth in this quote by Helen Keller.  I’m sure that many are familiar with her story and of the nearly impossible circumstances she faced as a child.  The principle of character is one which young Miss Keller learned first hand, being trapped in a world of unimaginable isolation and suffering as a young girl who was blind, deaf, and unable to speak or effectively communicate her needs.  With the help of her dedicated teacher, Anne Sullivan, Helen overcame great odds in learning to emerge from a dark, silent world to become the person God had intended her to be.  In so doing, she made a difference in this world by bringing hope and inspiration to countless others through her life’s testimony.

John 10:10 speaks of the abundant life Jesus came to offer us, in and through His redeeming blood and by the power of His Holy Spirit.  We must only choose to believe. Accepting Him as Lord and Savior is the first step in our pilgrimage. But in order to become truly like Him and grow in character, we must at times be molded, shaped, and tempered in the fires of adversity.

I find so much encouragement in the New Testament, both in the words of our Lord Jesus, as He instructs us directly, and in those of His servants, like the Apostle Paul.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 8:35-39 (KJV)

Paul understood so well what his suffering would achieve and that it was only temporal.  Led by the Holy Spirit, he wrote such words of encouragement like these to the church at Corinth:

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed…For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”  2 Corinthians 4:6-18 (KJV)

My friend, remember today, as you may experience periods of trail and suffering in this world, perhaps due to illness, a tragic loss, near devastating circumstance, or even because of the judgments and persecution of others- remember the words of a true servant of Christ and God’s words of comfort to you and me:

“And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”  Romans 5:2-5 (NIV)

May the Lord comfort and uplift you today!  Stand true to what you have believed and be assured that, as you allow your light to shine and do good to others, your labor is not in vain.  Cling to the promises in God’s Word and never give up on the dream He has placed in your heart! Persevere with the hope of Christ’s return and His love in your heart, and you will grow in both spirit and character!

May God bless you today and guide you to becoming all He created you to be!

Love in Christ,

Angela

I Wish You Enough

I wish you Time enough to smell the wildflowers,
Quiet enough to hear creation’s song,
Wisdom enough to drink in all its beauty,
Vision enough to see God’s wondrous design,
Passion enough to feel it moving within you,
And Freedom enough to just let go and Dance!

The Fern and The Bamboo

The Fern and The Bamboo

There once was a man who one day decided to quit…

He quit his job, his relationship, his spirituality… “I wanted to quit my life,” he said. He went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
“God”, he said, “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?”
His answer surprised him…
“Look around”, God said, “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?”
“Yes”, he replied.
When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo,” God said.

“In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would not quit,” God said.

“Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant. But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.“

God said to the man, “Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots? I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don’t compare yourself to others.” God said, “The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet, they both make the forest beautiful.”

“Your time will come,” God said to him. “You will rise high!”
“How high should I rise?” he asked.
“How high will the bamboo rise?” God asked in return.
“As high as it can?” he questioned.
“Yes,” God said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.”
The man left the forest and brought this story.

The Impulse To Soar

Bald Eagle in mid-air flight over Homer Spit Kenai Peninsula Alaska Winter

“One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.”
– Helen Keller

The LORD said to Jeremiah in verse 5 of chapter 1:

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Our God and Creator has appointed each of us for a purpose.  He knew you before you were even born and has bestowed to you certain unique traits and gifts that you might carry out such purpose.  God created the eagle’s majestic wings that he may ascend into the heavens and the great whale’s might that he should navigate the deep.

God’s Spirit bears witness with our own, whispering to us that we are His children, each created in His image and gifted for what He has fashioned us to do.

What has the Spirit inspired within you?
