“Hold Fast What Is Good”

When I was young, a dear mentor once told me something that made an impression upon my heart.  She said,

“In this life, you must remember to sift everything– everything that touches you, whether words, actions, or circumstances- and always hold on to the good.   As for everything else, let it fall to the ground, and more importantly, leave it there.”  

She has long since gone to live with her Savior.  But I remember her advice to this day and have tried to apply it throughout my life.  She was a very wise woman.

1 Thessalonians 5:21: “Test all things; hold fast what is good.”  (NKJV)

Philippians 4:8: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”  (NIV)
